Cracked Sewer Lines
When you have a cracked sewer line, this can lead to many different plumbing issues. First and foremost, a cracked sewer line is not the end of the world. Many times, sewer lines will crack from ground shifting. However, over time a cracked sewer pipe could lead to sewer line clogs from tree roots and more.
Since tree roots do whatever they can to seek out water, they begin to grow into your cracked sewer pipe over time. Although this process is slow, eventually the tree roots can clog your sewer line.
Here is what a good sewer line plumber will do to solve your problem…
Step 1: Run A Sewer Camera
The first step in repairing a clogged or cracked sewer line is to run a sewer plumbing camera to identify the exact cause of the issue. A plumbing camera is attached to a long line that is fed through your plumbing system. This allows us to see where the pipe is cracked and if there are roots growing in the line.
Step 2: Hydro-jetting
Next, if we identify tree roots in your sewer line, we can blow them out of the line with a hydro-jetting machine. A hydro jetter sprays water at a very high velocity through your sewer lines and can even cut through tree roots. This service will complete clear your sewer clog.
Step 3: Sewer Line Replacement
After the hydro jetter clears the clog, we will then run our camera again to inspect the results. Sometimes, the pipe is cleared and no further action is required.
Other times, we identify major cracks in the sewer pipe after the tree roots are cleared from the line. At this time, it is recommended to the homeowner that they replace their cracked sewer pipe so that they do not run into this problem again in the future.
